At least that's the takeaway from a mysterious video that appeared on the web today, which points to a so-called Chromebook Pixel that will reportedly match Apple's Retina MacBook Pro with a resolution of 2560 x 1700.
With everything running in the browser and the Retina iPads already supporting nearly this many pixels it doesn't seem far fetched to me that Google could pull this off.
Like Google did with help speed up support for WebKit-based browsers this would go a long way to getting both Windows OEMs and web developers to support Retina displays
